(NEW YORK) — A Spanish language news show has apologized after a Monday morning report about ISIS ended up using the Rebel Alliance’s logo from the Star Wars universe to represent Al Qaeda.
The segment, which went viral after someone made a Vine of the goof-up, occurred during TVE’s morning news show La Mañana. As reporter Jota Abril discussed the relationship between both Islamic terror groups, he gestured to a video screen displaying both ISIS’ black flag, and that of the Star Wars symbol, under which appeared Arabic-looking English lettering spelling out “Al Qaeda.”
Apparently, a hasty Google image search was to blame: the picture Abril picked apparently is used by an independent record label called Alqaeda Inc. — that is until ABC News parent company Disney’s legal team gets wind of the use of the Star Wars-related logo without permission.
